This is so...I don't know how to describe it...I can't put it into words but all I know is that. I. AM. HOOKED. I'm highkey invested. they're so precious I wanna cry. Do you have any plans on making a part 2 for this game?

Thank you! There are no plans currently, however if I do decide to create another part, I'll post about it on my twitter @HatogeGames :)

(+1)

im stuck on the second train part nothing happens for like 30 mins

(+1)(-2)

Where are you playing (browser or desktop) which version and on which os?

(+1)
Really good game, i had fun playing it! The only complaint i have is  that i couldn't save which was a little bit annoying  ( i downloaded the windows version).
(+1)(-1)

This seems to have happened to a few people, but I'm not sure why. I did implement an autosave feature now that should autosave the game at the beginning of the night. If you decide to play the game again, please let me know if this helped. :) (You'll need to redownload the game though)

I reinstalled the game and it works now! Thank you! :D

Glad to hear!

oh my god this was such a nice and sweet game i think im in love

!! CRITICISM !!

I'd also like to make one final comment. The game was very confusing due to the lack of instructions. I know there is a help manual but it's tedious to go back to it, or watch the help video. It would be better if the game had natural help for the player already. For example, when Fio said "Go wait in the living room"

That was confusing. I didn't know I had to interact with the table. I had to search up a video on this. A big easy fix is to put a arrow or something to notified the player to do this, to progress with the game. And the spark effect I can BEARLY see. Maybe put an exclamation mark. In a nutshell, the game is lacking natural ingame instructions. But if you'd fix it, the game would end up being REALLY clean without any bumps at all! (Also I hope I didn't end up sounding rude, I just wanted to give you some criticism. TwT and thanks for reading this aaaaaaa.)

---------------------------------------------------------------

On an ending note, I found one bug. When you get the priorities achievement, exit the bathroom you are in, and go to the other bathroom that you haven't used. (either the one upstairs or the one downstairs, it just depends which one you used, but for me it was the downstairs bathroom.)

When you enter, you get ANOTHER priorities achievement, which I'm pretty sure is unintentional, and a mistake.

If you need more help on this bugs detail, ask me!

(1 edit) (+1)

I've gotten this criticism a few times and I understand where everyone is coming from. I'm used to rpgmaker games being this way, but that doesn't mean it's good game design or that it can't be done better :) I want people to see that rpgmaker games can be cool and modern too after all! ^-^ Also yes, that is a bug. Thank you for notifying me, I'll fix it as soon as I can :)

Great game, but I wanna know if you can give me the download audio file to fio's cute main song, and the scene where Fio gives you ramen music, please!

(I LOVE the music and need it to be in my game! Thanks! <3 OH and happy new years!)

You can find all the music I used on maou.audio and playonloop.com :) Should be in the retro and gaming categories

OH MY GOD I FOUND THE TRACKS, I THINK I'M THE HAPPIEST DEVELOPER ALIVE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THANK YOU!!!!!!!! :D

Also, PLEASE make some kind of 2nd game that cost money. I know that there is a extended version but please. I love this game so much.

I just got super hooked the second I began playing. The game is so cute! I love cute and creepy mix! I want to squish Fio's cheeks and make him a nice meal and keep him safe </3. I want to see Crow and Fio happy... My first ending was the first one, followed by the 7th ending...and I got a ''priorities'' achievement haha. I jumped a few times lol. I'll purchase it for extra content because I really like the art style and the cute colors and because I'm really curious about the extra endings and additional comics. I didn't even read the tags of this game fully and completely glazed over the '' transgender '' tag. I thought to myself '' what?? where-- did I miss something--'' and then noticed (( SPOILER?)) when Crow looks at himself in the mirror, you can see a binder peeking under his t-shirt. Don't sleep with your binder on btw, it will screw up your ribs and skin elasticity, making it difficult for possible future top surgery. That and also Icarus's/Sofia's sex is Intersex. As a trans guy, I appreciate this kind of rep, I personally hate when representation is shoved/forced onto you like in most media nowadays. This was so simple and subtle and not down your throat I didn't even notice until I re-loaded a save and looked around for clues. I'd love to see more work from you, Hatoge! This game is really great and I hope that you will release more awesome titles like this one in the future! :)
Merry late Christmas and a Happy New Year! <3

(+3)

Thanks! I wanted to keep the representation subtle because I felt that the game had enough other focuses as is. And while I do think that subtle representation is important as well, I respectfully disagree that most trans representation is 'shoved down our throats'. It was the overbearing kind of representation that made me feel less alone before coming out, and I do hope to make other people feel that way someday :) Although if we get to a point as a society where we don't need that kind of representation anymore, I'd be happy with that as well!

I currently have two projects in development which get regularly teased on my twitter @HatogeGames, and there are 2 other games you can already play of me that I published before Sofia? if you'd like to see more of my work :) Either way, thanks for your support and a happy new year!

Awesome, I'll definitely have a look! Sorry if I came off as rude I have trouble wording things right I hope I didn't upset you😭...

(+2)

You didn't upset me, no worries! I don't think we as a community need to agree on everything anyway :'D Some questions in life don't have a wrong or right answer after all.

I played this game, and it took me a while to figure out the phone code (I was trying to do it without using the walkthrough, so I guess that's my fault lol). Overall, this has to be literally the best itch.io games I have ever played. In fact, I made this account so I could comment here and follow the developer! I also played Misfiction (another game made by this brilliant dev), and that was a fun experience as well. I love your work, Hatoge (how do you pronounce that, by the way?). Keep it up! I look forward to literally anything you put on here. Thank you again for this game.

P.S. I love the characters, and we all need a Fio in our lives.

Thank you very much, that means a lot! I'm really surprised with how many people enjoy my silly games haha

It's pronounced Hɑːtɒgɛ  which is short for 鳩ゲーム (Hato Gēmu,  japanese for pigeon game) if that helps!

It does help, thanks! And your games aren't silly, in my opinion. They're actually rather impressive.

Saving doesn't work

In browser?

Nope. In the MAC download

Unfortunately I can't test mac, so it's hard to figure out where the problem lies :( However I've implemented an autosave feature now that should save at the beginning of every night. Please let me know if this helped!

Will do

this game is so fun there only 1 last game from youto play it a novel version i hope they're more game that yougonna make UwU

its a really fun game!

but im stuck on the phone part idk  the pas i know what d m y means but what is it?

Thank you! The phone pin is in the walkthrough. You can download it for free from the main page :)

thank you i will see if i can find it in the walkthrough

(+1)

WOOWWW it just so gooodd!!! It super interesting ! One of my favorite games in Itch.io so far!

(+1)

This is honestly one of the best games ever
i ended up getting ending 5 and watched all the others
for me it took (notkidding) 3 hours to finish but it was so worth it
i absolutely loved this game <3

Wowwowowowowow! Just wow. So awesome! I love the creepy factor and the little details as the days went on and with the endings. It was a lot to do to get all of them tho so I ended up looking them up. That one with the "pandemic" tho confused me. And is that room near the final room of the game that says "You hear faintly hear machines" meant to be entered? Just wondering since I never did see any sign of it being opened. And is the soundtrack used on the main menu available anywhere? I loved it so much I ended up just sitting there jamming to it for a good 5 minutes maybe. 5 stars tho!

Thank you! It's funny that you mention the machine room right after the pandemic ending, as there is an after scene of the ending in the extended edition of the game (The ending itself is the same, the after scene is in the bonus room) where you do get to enter this room. The ending also makes a lot more sense afterwards, I think. Of course I completely understand if 3 dollars is a steep investment for a little bit od extra content. Either way I'm glad you enjoyed the game :) The main menu soundtrack for the standard version is actually a default soundtrack from the rpgmaker. Just look up 'rpgmaker vx ace town 3 ost' and you should be able to find it. :D

the game is really sad.

agreed.

(+1)

A REALLY good game, the only problem there is with it however, is that the instructions are just unclear. I couldn't complete this game or even get to half of the game without reading the walktrough, and i don't think most people would be able to complete it without the walktrough. (and having to read a text file outside the game just to complete the game really breaks immersion) You need to do certain things in a certain order, and the game doesn't do well at pointing you to the next thing or telling you why you need to do the next thing. [SPOILER:] like with the present, having to dip the present in water to get a key to a room you never thought about opening...? A lot of the actual puzzles aren't really puzzles since there's no way of finding out the next thing you need to do without having to run around the whole place. Some inner-dialogue nudging the player in the right direction after they completed doing something would've helped, and even after the ending of the game i still don't fully understand what happened (maybe that's just me).
Other than that this game was really good, great artstyle, really good atmosphere (day is all cutesy and happy and the night is full-on a horror game), and the story from what I've understood was unique and well-written!

(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I always try to come up with unique puzzles, but I can see how this makes some of them unintuitive and at times questionable. There is a plot related reason as to why I couldn't use inner monologue to help the player, so I hoped the twinkle would be enough. (But I can see how this wouldn't really help with any of the pin codes or the present puzzle) Sofia? was a very big learning experience for me, being the first non-jam game I have published, and I have many thoughts and ambitions going forward. I am very thankful towards all the patience the players have shown me and I hope to see everyone around again for my next release :)

Whatever you do, just don't give up. This was a really good game for your first game made outside of a game jam!
It was one of the first ever horror games I actually played by myself and enjoyed playing. I usually just watch YouTubers play stuff since I'm too scared of jumpscares and playing horror games by myself in general but this game handled jumpscares pretty well and the actual arrangement of all the events was pretty good aswell (the day/night cycle, where you're safe at day but in danger at night, and later on the danger sorta leaking into the day aswell)
And the story was also REALLY good, and the actual reasoning for you to go out and do all of those things was both cute and terrifying (having to keep Fio safe)

(+1)

No worries, I'm definitely not giving up! I'm currently working on 3 games that are coming along quite nicely and I can't wait to share with the world :D I totally get being too scared to play most horror games by yourself, but I'm glad you gave my game a try anyway! :3

Hey so I'm playing on the web version and *spoilers* the game gets "stuck" on the Now Loading... screen after Fio gets shot, when I'm on the train, along with on the train after Fio gets shot, I can't see crow at all

Could you try the downloaded version (the free one oc) and tell me if this still happens? I'm sorry for the inconvenience!

(1 edit)

I did and it worked. Also, truly amazing game. I've only gotten two levels done but I'm already hooked

Okay, thank you for trying it out!

(+2)

love this gameeeeeee!!!!!!!

I'm trying to get into the room near the bathroom upstairs, what be the code?

There is a walkthrough you can download from the main page 👍

(+1)

Just went back to bed and the killer beside me

anybody know the code for the cabinet next to fio s bed

(+1)(-1)

It should be 1702017

It's a combination of codes that Crow got from the guestroom and file: A1702 + B017

(+2)

I really loved the game and the story. Thank you Hatoge for fixing the bug I mentioned before, you're so cool. I hope to play more of your games. <3

can you help with chapter 4 we are really stuck

(-1)

Have you tried the walkthrough?

Very nicely done and an interesting story, played in browser so I didn't get to do the extended version (yet) but it was a nice way to spend my evening. Fio a cute <3

This game was really good ! the artstyle and animation was so cute ! but I am still confused what is going on :O

(+1)

wow just finished the game. cute artstyle, cute charachters. knda confused on what's going on but that's okay. i got 6 and 7. I think 7 was very nice. i accidentally skipped the part with the white room code, so that kinda sucks

(2 edits)

not really a bug, but in the deja vu book there's a typo. it says wronlgy instead of wrongly. is that intentional? is wrongly a word?

another typo in the videos. non instead of none

(Spoilers?)

I'm stuck on the part after you unlock the other locked door upstairs (the one with the skeletons) and get the file. There's a sparkle on the drawer in Fio's bedroom but it looks like I need some code, but i couldn't find anything. Anyone know how to get progress thru it???

There is a walkthrough you can download from the main page ^^

Where?

My friends and I love this game so much, we even went as far to make fanart for it! It's so enchanting and we just love the horror aspect of it all. I played through it possibly three times now.

Aw, thank you so much! I would love to see the fanart if you want to share it :)

Hello! Just bought the full version, hopefully, these two new endings are going to be worth the money, haha. I never got attached to a game so quickly before, it's amazing. The designs, their backstories, their personalities, everything is amazing, thank you so much for the making of this game. My favorite endings were the second and eighth ones, looking forward to playing the ninth and tenth! Aaaaa I'm in love with this, it's sooooo good!!!!!!!

Hello! I'm glad you enjoyed the game :) Thank you for purchasing the extended edition! I personally think most of its value lies in the bonus room and the after scenes that come with it, rather than the two additional endings though!

I actually loved one of the additional endings, it was really funny and took away the scary and sad vibe of the game, and yes!!! I LOVED the bonus room, it's so cute, I'm glad I can get more information on everything with the after scenes too, they gave me chills, ngl.

(+1)

this game is really good but ir=ts pretty short please make it longerrrrr

(+1)

I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH

I loved the game, would the extended version be available in steam anytime soon or do we have to purchase it from itch only?

I've thought about putting it on steam but the 100 $ fee is putting me off a little! Maybe once I've earned enough from the itch.io sales :')

Deleted 2 years ago

Maybe Fio and Crow got killed by Sofia and Crow remembered his memories? I don't know, because I'm still played the demo version. Maybe Sofia is obsessed with Crow but Crow rather with Fio so Sofia get revenge?

(+2)

This story is wonderful. I wish there were less confusing puzzles though. I have a simple mind so maybe ut was easier for someone else to do rather than me haha. But otherwise I loved it. Quite the ending twist as well. Good job!

What days do you have to play games with fio for it to register as somtimes

Can be any of the days, just needs to be at least once and not every time. Also make sure you don't wait until the last day :)

(+2)

So on my first playthrough, I was getting really interested in how much promise the game showed. Then I hit an ending and thought "...was that it?" - like it just felt like such an early finish, and such a waste. Then I looked at the walkthrough file and realised that, funny enough, it felt like an early finish because it was the 'early' ending. Well done me 🙄😂

Now that I've played through the rest of the game, I've got no hesitation saying it realised its potential. For how short the story is, there's a really good amount of depth to it, and the replay value is top notch with a decent difference to each ending (ending #3 in the guide absolutely slayed me 😂). The puzzles were satisfying without being torturous, the subtle in-game changes as it progressed were very well implemented, and we were given just enough character development that, by the end of it, I found myself invested in the guys' relationship and sincerely hoping for a truly good ending for them. The story was told well, I love the visuals, and just overall loved the game!

Didn't hesitate in buying the extended edition, I'm looking forward to seeing where it ends up.

(Also: Fio is such a precious bean, I just wanna protect him...)

(+1)

Thank you for this detailed, yet spoiler-free review! I'm glad you got this much out of the game and didn't quit after reaching the first ending haha Thank you for buying the extended edition, but please know that the main game is the same as the standard edition aside from two more endings you can get pretty early on. The main difference is the bonus room with some more after-scenes and art and stuff. :) Hope you have fun exploring these things, though!

For the benefit of future readers debating whether or not to go for the extended edition - I recommend it!

As Hatoge said, the extra endings are accessed quite quickly, but one of them answered a "Yeah but why doesn't he just--" question I had, so that was a plus! Also the bonus content is fantastic; if you've grown to love the cast the extra details about them are a wonderful addition, and I love seeing a bit of history/background into the development of projects too. I also really appreciated the after-endings, they added to the story without feeling like a fanservicey cop-out~

oh my god, it was amazing, the visuals ? spectacular , the soundtrack ? amazing, the storyline ? out of this world, you guys are amazing ! ! i cant wait to see more of your games in the future ~ !

Thank you! I'm just a solo dev though, no team unfortunately :'D Maybe one day.

(+1)

you're amazing ! i hope one day you can achieve all your dreams/goals ! good luck ! oh and i have folllowed and downloaded your other games, and plan to play it later this week, stay safe ! ! !

SOLO DEV????  THIS IS SO GOOD!! I refuse to belive you made all of this all by yourself.
