im kinda confused, i interact with the closet near the begining to hide but it doesnt do anything, i looked at the walkthrough and that wasnt much help;;
Are you pressing shift to run? If you enter a room and then don't interact with the closet before John comes into the room as well (Which is after a few seconds, or when the click noise happens) then you can't hide in the closet any longer.
This was so fun, I wish I found this game earlier. The story had me rolling, especially how misguided John was. It was also still scary, but I found myself laughing at him with his dialogue throughout the game. (kinda spoiler warningjust in case) Also Eugene is such a bro. I did get to the extras after the end, but honestly I'd want Eugene to be my friend for life. Going out of his way to help his bestie escape the clutches of an expensive manchild. absolute legend.
I tried to play it on my phone (to see exactly how far I could go) In that first chase scene (don't know if there's more) Rylan kept running back to John. Like, no matter what I tried, he ran directly for him. That was funny to me

Also because there was no music in the game, I listened to one of my playlists and for some reason I had the great idea (sarcasm, I regret this) to listen to some creepy music and that just made the atmosphere so much worse, in a good way alsjdlsjdk I got jumpscared by the music I was listening to- it was an interesting experience lmao especially during the chase scenes

Oh I was playing on browser! I could hear all the sound effects just fine but there was no music, not sure if it's just a me-problem with my laptop but.. welp, looks like I'll definitely have to play this again sometime with the actual in-game music haha!
Unfortunately browser really doesn't like rpgmaker games and sometimes doesn't load some files in :( If you download the game it should hopefully be there though! I'm glad you still enjoyed the game nonetheless :)

You can move around with arrow keys and interact with objects by pressing enter, which is the way the game is intended to be played. The engine I use automatically makes mouse play possible, but it is in no way optimized, and I'm considering turning it off for future games. I ran out of time to put in a gameplay instruction screen because of the initial jam deadline, but I'll put it in the game description on itch.io for now. Thank you for the feedback! :)
Great game! I'm currently stuck running away from John for the 3rd time, no matter what I do it's game over, I can't hide before the click sound, it's impossible

I loved this game, the art style is pretty and the concept that the rich guy was using BL as research was funny! This was very well made and I'm surprised it was made in 10 days considering how good it is

This game was really fun to play :DD I played the German version and I really liked the translation^^
The dialog itself was nice to read and funny - it made me laugh quite often. Rylan is a very good protag! I liked his comebacks and how he didn't take any of John's BS. His conversations with Eugene were also so nice to read, because of how close these two are UvU As for John... He def got what he deserved, but I feel like there's some backstory to him, that we as the players didn't get to uncover, because Rylan (rightfully) wasn't interested in it.
As for the gameplay: I love games, where you can explore, so this game was perfect!! Though I'm glad that there was a walkthrough, because I had no idea what to do at the last chase-sequence :')
So all in all, this was a great game with nice charas and a surprisingly sweet ending :D I'm def looking forward to more of your games in the future!!

The german version was really more of a rewriting than a direct translation because my brain works differently when it comes to english and german, if that makes sense? Hi! I love the game so far. The only problem that I'm having is near the start, you go into the library and he chases you. I have tried to hide in the closet but I can't enter. What I did was I pressed space, which opened it, and walked forward. I have tried multiple ways to enter but it won't work. Am I, perhaps, doing something wrong?
Hello! You might not be reaching the closet fast enough then. Once you hear the sound of the door opening, it's too late and you can't hide in the closet anymore. Have you been pressing shift to run and headed straight to the closet?
I liked the game too much, if it doesn't bother you, record playing the game in Spanish because I uploaded it to youtube espeor and it doesn't bother you anyway I loved the end I couldn't stop screaming with happiness xd keep it up

Such a nice horror RPG maker game, is kinda short but I think that plays in favor of the type of story it is (also it was made UNDER 60 hours wow), I really like the twist on the BL abuse trope and the puzzles that are fun but not frustrating to solve.
okay I absolutely love this game, I love the dialogue but I am stuck on the last chase, I try and go into the closet in the storage room but as soon as I get in there he's already in there so I run to the master bedroom to try and hide in the closet in there but again as soon as I get in there he's already there and I can not hide. Loved this game ! Some interactions really made me laugh (that moonwalk Rylan did ahah) I also appreciate the fact that it's not too cliché ! There were just some times were I didn't really knew what to do but the hints on the map helped well. Oh and the arts are really cute !
Oh and, sorry to be annoying but I found some "bugs" and don't know if you would like to know about them ? We can walk on the wall between the washing machines and when taking the stairs to go to the basement, if we try directly to go up we can go "between time and space" °^°

I can technically have it build for mac, however since my last games mac built ended up causing a lot of trouble for users that I couldnt help with, as I do not own a mac, I didn't want to bother this time. Hi urmom2006! If you met John in the dining area going to the kitchen, you will have to go to the play room (mini casino) to ditch him. If you stumbled upon him in the library or bedroom then press the "Z" key when you're in front of the closet. Press twice just to make sure. Hope this helps!
Can anyone else not escape the third hunt? I've tried everything I could think of. There is no time for me to hide, I can't open a locked room, I can't enter the vent, and I tried many other things without success. Or is there still something I missed?
I just tried it. This really works! Damn, I went into every room of the house, including the bathroom, but didn't go into this one because I figured there was nothing that could help me. I was really careless.
Oh. One more thing. If I close a game without finishing it, my game saves will be erased upon restarting. It's actually not necessary since the game isn't that long. I'm just telling you.
This game is really fun, I hope you guys make a long story game after this. I will definitely wait to buy
Hello! It's weird that your game saves would be deleted, since this doesn't happen for me. Are you sure you have saved through the menu (escape on keyboard)? The game doesn't have an autosave. I've figured it out after looking at the walkthrough, although I'm not sure if this reply is too late or not.
You need to go inside the playroom (the room with the claw machine), avoid John and exit it again.
After that the character should lock the door by himself.
